Project Description

The Cataract Surgery & Eye Care Project is a fully self-funded healthcare initiative of DADUS, dedicated to making essential eye care and cataract treatment accessible to economically disadvantaged individuals facing financial barriers to timely medical care.

As an ongoing programme, DADUS supports 10 eligible beneficiaries every month, providing assistance for cataract surgery, medical consultation and related treatment needs. To date, the initiative has supported 110 beneficiaries, reflecting DADUS’s sustained commitment to expanding access to essential healthcare.

DADUS provides comprehensive support throughout the entire patient journey, extending beyond treatment costs to essential logistical assistance. Through DADUS’s own transportation facility, beneficiaries are brought from Dohar to Dhaka for medical consultation, eye examinations, cataract surgery and related eye-care services.

During their treatment visit, DADUS provides breakfast and lunch to beneficiaries, helping reduce the additional financial and practical burden associated with receiving healthcare away from home. Following completion of their medical care, beneficiaries are safely transported back to Dohar through DADUS’s own transportation facility.

This integrated approach addresses multiple barriers to healthcare access, including treatment costs, transportation expenses, mobility challenges and basic nutritional needs. By supporting these essential aspects of the treatment journey, DADUS seeks to ensure a more accessible, comfortable and dignified healthcare experience for every beneficiary.

The project reflects DADUS’s broader commitment to healthcare with dignity, recognising that untreated cataracts can affect mobility, independence, family responsibilities and participation in everyday life. Supporting timely treatment therefore means supporting not only better vision, but also greater confidence, independence and quality of life.

Every beneficiary represents more than a programme statistic. Each individual reflects an opportunity to restore essential vision, reduce hardship and strengthen the ability to participate independently in everyday life. Through direct self-funded investment, DADUS continues to transform its resources into meaningful and lasting human impact.

With a continued focus on accessibility, continuity, dignity and compassion, DADUS remains committed to ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to essential eye care. Through sustained action, the project continues to create meaningful healthcare access and the opportunity for a healthier, more independent and more dignified life.
